The chapter energy technologies describes the range of technologies available now and in the future to satisfy the world’s energy demand.The energy [r]evolution scenario is focused on the potential for energy savings and renewable sources, primarily in the electricity and heat generating sectors. Although fuel use in transport is accounted for in the scenarios of future energy supply, no detailed description is given here of technologies, such as bio fuels for vehicles, which offer an alternative to the currently predominant oil.
